TL Fan Number Guide
TL Fan Number Guide
- The TL controller is uniquely designed to support 2 devices (TL and TL LCD), so 1 TL controller should be counted as 2 USB devices.
- Moreover, EDGE PSU’s USB hub port functions as a 1-to-7 USB hub, and spreads into port#2/3/4 – 2 devices, and port# 1-1 device. Thus, it is recommended to connect the TL controller to port #2/3/4.
- Connecting a USB hub adds an additional level. Each device counts as one level, with a maximum of five levels allowed.
- Below is the tested maximun number of TL & TL LCD fans in different scenarios for the tested motherboards.
1. Connect the TL controller to the motherboard internal 9-pin USB 2.0 port directly
Controller Type | Max total fans | Max total TL LCD fans | Max TL fans each port | Max TL LCD fan each port |
---|---|---|---|---|
TL Controller | 16 | 9 | 10 | 3 |
TL Controller (Shift AIO Version) | 16 | 8 | 10 | 3 |
According to the USB rules, when you connect a hub, it creates an additional level. Each USB device counts as a level, and you can add up to a maximum of 5 levels.
2. Connect the TL controller to the Edge PSU, and the Edge PSU motherboard signal via internal 9-pin USB 2.0 port or random rear IO USB Type A port
Controller Type | Max total fans | Max total TL LCD fans | Max TL fans each port | Max TL LCD fan each port |
---|---|---|---|---|
TL Controller | 16 | 6 | 10 | 2 |
TL Controller (Shift AIO Version) | 16 | 6 | 10 | 2 |
According to the USB rules, when you connect a hub, it creates an additional level. Each USB device counts as a level, and you can add up to a maximum of 5 levels.
3. Connect the TL controller to the Edge PSU, and the Edge PSU motherboard signal via Intel native USB Type A level 1 port
